A prominent late 19th and early 20th century Canadian painter with several works in the permanent collection of the National Gallery of Canada, James Lillie Graham was born in Belleville, Ontario. He lived in Toronto, London, England, Paris and Ottawa, before settling in Montreal in about 1922, where he appears to have lived for the rest of his life. On August 25, 1965 he disappeared without a trace while visiting the Gatineau Hills, Quebec.
