Loch Gallery is delighted to feature an exhibition of new Italian paintings by Philip Craig. After seven years, Philip returns to his much beloved Italian landscape. We join him as he explores olive groves, vineyards, Venetian canals and the rolling Tuscan hills around the towns of San Gimignano, Montepulciano and Castiglioni. In "View of Montepulciano" and "Cypress Road", Philip masterfully captures the golden light that dances around the scattered towns and cypress tree lined roads. We find respite from the noon-hour sun in the painting “Under the Pergola” and rest awhile, only to later walk the rows of grapevines in a Castiglioni vineyard overlooking a sweeping Tuscan panorama.
In the video below, Philip treats us to a tour of his Italian paintings featured in this latest exhibition. We watch him paint the works in progress and see them come to life before our eyes.
To accompany his video, Philip Craig has created an ebook featuring a selection of his Italian paintings. Please click on the link here to join Philip as he recounts stories from his trips to Italy paired with paintings inspired by the landscape.
