LOVE YOU FOREVER ? BACKGOUND

Love You Forever, written by Robert Munsch, illustrated by Sheila McGraw and published by Firefly Books is turning twenty in 2006 and has sold twenty million copies. The book was first published in 1986 and quickly became a favourite for moms, whose love of the book was spread by word-of-mouth, creating an unprecedented international bestseller. Its early success, the still-strong sales and its universal appeal as it approaches the twentieth anniversary, mark it as a classic. LOVE YOU FOREVER was featured on the hit show Friends' final episode this past year demonstrating its cross-generation interest. It was number one on the New York Times Children's Bestsellers List in 1994, the last time the list was compiled.
