Discover the breathtaking beauty of our planet and learn about biodiversity by exploring seven biomes through Dr. Roberta Bondar's photography exhibition, Within The Landscape—Art Respecting Life, at the TELUS Spark Science Centre in Calgary, Alberta. The exhibition will be open to the public from January 24, 2014 to June 15, 2014.
Presented by The Roberta Bondar Foundation, this is a travelling exhibition and learning experience on the themes of biodiversity and extinction. The exhibition is an opportunity for human reflection and helps people understand the diversity of species that provides ecosystem services; their importance to sustaining human lives; and the natural beauty that is present on our planet. The exhibition’s themes help forge an emotional bond between nature and the individual.
This remarkable collection includes 51 major fine art photographs that span Canadian national parks (including Kluane National Park and Reserve of Canada, Puaskwa National Park of Canada, Wood Buffalo National Park of Canada, and Cape Breton Highlands National Park of Canada); the Bosque del Apache National Wildlife Refuge in the USA, Sahara Desert, and the Masai Mara National Reserve of Kenya.
Dr. Bondar’s space experience as a crew member aboard the Space Shuttle Discovery left her with a whole new view of herself and the future of planet Earth. Addressing the growing nature deficit in society, The Roberta Bondar Foundation helps to cultivate in all ages a sense of awe, respect and appreciation for other life forms that share our planet. The fusion of photographic art and science stimulates our creative expression, understanding of the environment and our inter-relationship with the elements of nature and with life.
